Medpole’s medical device clinical research expertise, sales and distribution capabilities in Europe are cited by PMI as key reasons for alliance.

Costa Mesa, California – September 14, 2007 – Promedica International (PMI), a USA-based Contract Research Organization (CRO) providing services to the medical device, biotech and pharmaceutical industries, announced today the establishment of a new strategic alliance with Medpole, a Belgium based CRO.

Medpole, which specializes in innovative high value added medical technologies and Biotech Phase II-IV clinical research, serves European and Middle Eastern markets through its corporate office near Brussels, Belgium. The company’s services include clinical strategy, study management and monitoring, data management, regulatory support, marketing and sales strategy and distribution product warehousing.

PMI chose to formalize the alliance with Medpole based on the firms’ cultural similarities in terms of client orientation and service. “The PMI-Medpole alliance expands both firms’ capabilities. Our combined experience and service provider relationships in clinical research facilitate comprehensive, efficient clinical project plans and implementation in North America, European and Middle Eastern countries. Over the years we have reviewed various alliance opportunities – we find Medpole’s capabilities and culture to be a good match with PMI’s focus on people, processes and performance”, said Ellen Palo, PMI founder.

“The PMI-Medpole alliance creates an excellent opportunity for our clients”, stated Michel Lussier, founder and CEO of Medpole. “Now our clients will have the opportunity to perform study activities in North America, Europe and Middle East using common project resources and a single set of standard operating procedures.”

Shannon Stoddard, Vice President of Clinical Services and Data Management at PMI, will oversee the integration of the firms’ standard operating procedures (SOP) and systems to streamline project implementation activities. Ms. Stoddard said, “It is very positive to have this alliance. Medpole’s specialized knowledge in medtech clinical research enables us to confidently provide our clients with thoughtful study planning processes, suggestions for proven European and Middle Eastern study sites, and in-country monitoring and site management.” Sophie Henry, Vice President of Clinical Operations, will be overseeing the integration from Medpole.
